Vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous raids at five places including the house of Ramesh Chandra Sahu, principal of Hira Nila College in Kalahandi, on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known source of income, on Monday.

According to reports, simultaneous searches are being conducted in Khordha and Kalahandi by teams of the anti-corruption agency led by six DSPs, four Inspectors and other staff on  the strength of search warrants  issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.

Vigilance searches are underway at Sahu’s residential houses at Dumduma Housing Board Colony in Bhubaneswar and Kalahandi, crusher units in Khordha and Kalahandi and his office at Hira Nila College, Biswanathpur, Kalahandi.

While exact details on the raids will be known later, the Vigilance teams are said to have already laid their hands on many crucial documents related to the property of the officer.

Recently, Sahu was booked in four cases in Kalahandi on charges of duping several local residents on pretext of proving them jobs in the college.

According to Vigilance sources, Sahu had taken Rs 9.45 lakh from four persons promising them to offer peon and sweeper jobs in the college.

Similarly, on orders of Sub Collector, Bhawanipatna, a committee comprising four members had conducted enquiry in August 2021 and found involvement of Sahu in a series of financial irregularities in the college.
