The Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch on Friday made some startling revelation in the recent seizure of Cocaine, an expensive drug, from Bhubaneswar.

STF sources said that the two accused- Ravi and Sunny Kumar, who were arrested for possessing 202 grams of Cocaine, were planning to create a market ahead of the mega Hockey World Cup in 2023. The duo was arrested on April 13.

The highly expensive drug was specifically procured and was intended to be sold to foreign spectators and players. As part of the strategy, the accused would had pumped in the narcotics through several hotels in Bhubaneswar.

Preliminary investigation reveals that one of the accused Ravi, who hails from Rajasthan, had procured the Cocaine from his boss who operates from Turkman gate in Delhi.

Ravi runs a hotel business in Rajasthan and also operates a travel agency in Delhi. It was during 2010 Common Wealth Games that he had come in contact with the Delhi-based supplier of Cocaine.

It is suspected that Ravi was operating the illegal drugs trade under the guise of his hotel and travel agency. STF sources said that the mobile phone of Ravi has several foreign contacts. Following his arrest, some South African currency notes were also seized.
