Class 1 student dies after alleged attack at Rayagada ashram school, probe ordered

In a shocking incident, a Class 1 student died after he was allegedly attacked by a Class 6 student at an ashram school in Kolnara block of Rayagada district.

As per reports, the Class 1 boy, Gobinda Huika, suffered grievous injuries in the attack by the senior and was immediately rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

The child succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment today. The incident was reported on August 20. The deceased hailed from Jhileiguda village of Kolnara block.

However, district welfare officer (DWO) Ashok Satpathy has denied allegations of any attack on the minor. He claimed that medical reports of the boy did not mention any attack as the cause of his death.

The District Welfare Officer said, “The children were actually playing. There is nothing mentioned in the medical report or in the scanning report as well. The investigating team will submit its report today. If anyone is found guilty, action will be taken against the culprit.”
