Man arrested after 28 years of murder
A man has finally landed behind bars after evading arrest for the last 28 years. The accused has been identified as Harihar Patajoshi of Berhampur.
As per initial reports, Harihar had allegedly killed his mother-in-law Rama, attacked his wife and brother-in-law during his stay in Chennai. A murder case in this connection was registered against Harihar who was absconding since then.
Sources said Harihar had fallen in love with one Indira who was working at a telemarketing company in Chennai during 1994. Later, both of them tied nuptial knot in the month of July 1994. However, both started staying separately after few months of their marriage and had applied for divorce.
On August 9, 1998, Harihar alleged stormed into the house of Indira, attacked her mother and brother. Following the incident, Harihar fled and started working in Surat before returning to Odisha. He married another woman in 2001 in Aska.
He worked as a manager at various companies in Kendrapara and Berhampur. Fearing arrest, Harihar frequently used to change houses. Though Chennai Police had earlier raided multiple times, they could not arrest him.
Recently, a team met Berhampur SP and a team was formed under the leadership of Inspector-in-charge of Gosainuagaon police station. However, Harihari managed to give a slip again last week. He was subsequently arrested from the railway station.
