With a couple of days left for the New Year, people are already dipped in celebrations. Taking advantage of this, miscreants decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh from a house at Chakeisihani area in Bhubaneswar under Mancheswar Police limits.

As per reports, the burglary was reported when the house owner Debadutta Samal and his family members were not present in the house. The family reportedly had gone on vacation when the burglars committed the crime after breaking at least four locks.

“I stay in Jaipur and was on my way to Bhubaneswar. My family had gone on vacation and the keys were handed over to our tenants. As per the discussion, I was supposed to take the keys from the tenant and enter the house. However, I got a call that some miscreants have looted valuables from the house,” said Samal.

Samal further said that it is tough to suspect anybody as we had handed over keys to tenants.

“We have been staying here for the last 30 years and no such incident had occurred in the past. We want the Police to conduct a detailed investigation and examine the tenant as well,” Samal added.
