At least one person was killed while two others sustained serious injuries after firing and hurling of bombs between two groups of people near Sarangdhar Stadium in Kamakhyanagar area of Dhenkanal last night.

Anticipating further escalation of tension, police have deployed two platoons of force in the region. The police administration has also sealed both ends of the town area. 

As per sources, a personal dispute which has now escalated into a major rivalry between groups of two localities in the area. The situation exploded on Wednesday night at around 10 pm when some of them hurled bombs at a car. During the faceoff, at least six rounds of bullets were fired. 

A total of 3 persons received injuries during the attack with all of them initially shifted to Kamakhyanagar Hospital and later shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College. One of them identified as Tophan Patra succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
