The explosion occurred when the duo was allegedly transporting the explosive on a motorcycle.

How The Incident Occured?

Preliminary investigation suggests that the bomb accidentally went off while being carried on the bike, leading to the immediate death of one rider. The second individual sustained serious injuries and has been shifted to a nearby hospital in a critical condition. The deceased has been identified as Nirakar Singh and the injured has been identified as Lulu Senapati.

Senapati has been shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar as his condition remains critical.

Both individuals are said to be residents of Shedheiagarh. However, the origin of the bomb and their intended destination remain unknown, prompting serious security and intelligence concerns. The blast was so intense that the motorcycle was torn apart, and the sound was heard across several nearby areas.

Police Probe Begins

Law enforcement authorities rushed to the scene soon after locals reported the explosion. Forensic experts and bomb squads have been deployed to examine the remnants of the explosive. Senior police officials are also conducting inquiries to ascertain how the bomb was procured, and whether the act was intentional, accidental, or part of a larger plot.

“We are treating this matter with utmost seriousness,” said a police official at the scene. “The priority is to trace the source of the explosive and uncover the motive behind the transport.”

The incident has sparked tension in the area, and police patrolling has been intensified across the region. Villagers, stunned by the tragic event, are cooperating with authorities, though fear and speculation continue to spread.
This incident raises alarming questions about illegal explosives being moved through public spaces and underscores the urgent need for tighter surveillance and intelligence gathering in sensitive districts like Khordha.
