After OTV highlighted massive loopholes in the probe of recovery of the body of a student from railway tracks and burial of the body sans post-mortem in Kantabanji, Police on Wednesday detained two persons in connection with the case.
The two accused- Bikash and Vishal Mittal-are siblings and they are now being interrogated.
It is alleged that both Bikash and Vishal had thrashed and tortured the 15-year-old Lalit Jain leading to his death. It is pertinent to mention here that Lalit Jain had gone missing from Kantabanji area on July 13.
To everybody’s surprise, the GRP reportedly buried Lalit’s body without conducting a post-mortem or launching an investigation after his body was found lying on the railway track near Kukudahada area. Unaware of the incident, the family members had lodged a missing complaint on July 14.
Lalit’s body was subsequently exhumed in the presence of a magistrate. Surprisingly, his body was handed over to the family members without even conducting post-mortem by police, sources informed.
