The recent series accident near the RTO square in Bolangir district is actually a pre-planned murder, said superintendent of police (SP) Nitin Kusalkar said on Monday.
In an exclusive reaction to OTV, Kusalkar said, “The act was represented like an accident, but now it is learnt that it was an intentional attempt on life and one person has died. We have registered a murder case.”
“There are two accused in the case and further investigation is underway. There were two persons in the mini truck. After going through CCTV footage and technical analysis we can reach to the conclusion that who was the driver and who was the accompanying person,” he added.
Earlier in the day, a new video containing the footage of the series accident surfaced, bringing a fresh twist to the case.
The footage showed Chittaranjan Mohanty was at the wheel at the time of the mishap which claimed the life of Srikant Bag and left Sonu Nayak critically injured. Chittaranjan had earlier claimed that he was standing at the RTO square when the mishap occurred. He fractured his leg in the mishap.
On Saturday, the mini-truck had rammed into the bike Sonu and Srikant were riding. The collision left Srikant dead and Sonu critically injured. Accused Chittaranjan also fractured his leg in the mishap and is currently undergoing treatment under the custody of police.
Though initially, it appeared like an accident, later it was learnt that it was actually a pre-planned conspiracy to eliminate Sonu using the vehicle and represent it look like an accident.
Therubali police has detained accused Chittaranjan when he was trying to flee to Visakhapatnam. Apart from Chittaranjan, the police have detained two of his aides and interrogating them in the custody.
It was alleged that a plot was hatched to eliminate Sanu over a property dispute . A week before the incident, a similar accident was plotted to eliminate Sonu’s brother Bhuban.
