In a shocking incident, body of a newborn girl was recovered from a drain on the premises of the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital (MCH) in Bolangir district. 

Wrapped in polythene, the body of the baby girl was found floating in the drain behind the MCH building.

The matter came to the fore after a few people spotted the polythene bag and alerted the local police and medical authorities.

When contacted, the hospital authorities were not immediately available to comment on the issue. It is yet to be known if the baby was stillborn or died after being thrown into the drain.

The incident has spread outrage in the area. Despite repeated such incidents on regular intervals, the medical authorities have miserably failed to take any action in this regard.
