Block chairperson's husband booked for forging BDO’s signature to withdraw Rs 15 lakh in Odisha

Tangi police in Khordha district has registered a case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against a contractor, who is the husband of Chilika block chairperson, for withdrawing a security deposit of Rs 15 lakh by forging the BDO’s signature. 

According to the complaint, Kishore Behera, a former Zilla Parishad member who is the husband of Chilika block chairperson, was a contractor by profession. For a construction work, he had signed an agreement and pledged Rs 15 lakh towards security money. He was to get back the deposit money after the completion of the work. 

It is alleged that he withdrew the deposit money before the completion of his work by forging the signature of the block development officer (BDO) of Tangi and a government letter. 

After coming to know about the forgery, Tangi BDO lodged a complaint at Tangi police station. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC. 

In this regard, the reaction could not be obtained from Kishore and Tangi BDO. However, PD, DRDA, Diganta Routray and Tangi police station IIC confirmed that a case against Kishore has been registered.
