The deceased has been identified as Gouri Behera, a resident of Nischintapur village and the accused as Babuli Mahakud of the same village.

As per reports, Gouri had gone to a villager’s house to perform puja for the construction of the roof of a new house. After performing the rituals, she was returning home when Babuli waylaid her. Before she could understand anything, Babuli took out an axe and chopped off her head.
