Bike-borne Miscreants Attack Female Sarpanch Family in Angul; Four Injured

Five unidentified bike-borne miscreants attacked the family members of a female Sarpanch with sharp weapons at Rajadang village under Khamar police limits in Angul district on Thursday.

Four members of the Sarpanch’s family suffered grievous injuries in the attack. While the Sarpanch’s identity is yet to be ascertained, the injured persons include her husband, two brothers-in-law (husband’s brothers) and another family member. 

While the whole village was busy celebrating the village fair, five miscreants, riding two bikes, stormed in the venue and before anyone could figure out their motive, they took out sharp weapons and pounced on the Sarpanch’s family members.

While the reason behind the attack is yet to be established, political vengeance can’t be ruled out.

The Khamar police are investigating the incident and launched a manhunt for the miscreants.
