According to the crime statistics released by the Commissionerate Police on Monday, 32 murder, 108 rape and 1,880 theft cases have been registered in Bhubaneswar in the last 11 months.

Similarly, 277 suicide cases have been reported in the Smart City of which most of the victims are men, the record stated. While 94 men ended their lives by hanging themselves, the number stands at 41 for women.

While the maximum 68 suicide cases have been reported from Khandagiri area, a low of 2 cases each were registered in Tamando and Airport police limits, the record stated.

Similarly, the city reported 547 loot, 426 house breaking, 791 cheating case during that period.

“Every year around 2.5 lakh people commit suicide in India. Is there no solution to that? Depression and stress are two very dangerous words.
