Rupesh Panda, the accused in the stabbing of a woman and her daughter at Shailashree Vihar area under Chandrasekharpur police limits in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, was detained by the Police on Wednesday following his discharge from the hospital.

As per reports, Rupesh was taken away by the Police immediately after his discharge from hospital for further questioning in the case. It is suspected that the stabbing could be a case of attempted burglary in the house.

On Tuesday afternoon, Rupesh, dressed up as a woman, allegedly entered the house of the victims before launching the murderous attack. Rupesh works with a private news channel in the Smart City.

Mystery deepened in the incident when Rupesh alleged that he was first attacked by three unidentified miscreants who threatened to kill him if he did not obey their instructions. Later, the bike borne miscreants took him to an isolated place and thrashed him inside a car, he had alleged.

He further claimed, “When I reached my neighbour’s house, the landlady started attacking me. With no other option, I too retaliated. We did not have any enmity with our neighbours,” he claimed.

However, Rupesh’s wife refuted all the allegations against her husband terming them ‘baseless’.
