Cybercriminals have posed a big challenge for the Commissionerate Police as these criminals duped Rs 17 crore from the capital city residents.
According to police, Bhubaneswar Cyber Police Station has received as many as 1515 complaints in the last four months. Of them, 100 cases have been registered. While the total fraud amount is Rs 17 crore, the police have managed to block Rs 7.15 crore.
Informing about the nature of fraud, Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda said, “Mostly UPI-related frauds are being reported. There are also cases related to credit and debit cards and social media. That apart, cases related to trading apps, job scams and digital wallets are also being reported.”

As the number of cybercrimes is increasing, the manpower at the cyber police station has also been increased. The police have been creating awareness among the people, asking them to remain alert. They have been asked to report cases relating to cybercrime by visiting Indian government’s sancharsathi.gov.in.
