The Chandaka Police on Saturday night rescued a man who was reportedly kidnapped on June 9 by two youths from a farm house under Khordha Town Police Station and arrested the kidnapper duo from the spot.

The abductee has been identified as Sadananda Behera, a resident of Andharua area in Bhubaneswar while the two kidnappers are- Pramod Mohanty of Puri district and Santosh Patnaik of Nayagarh district.

A complaint in connection with the kidnapping was filed at the Chandaka Police Station on June 9 by Sadananda's wife, Rasmita Behera.

Bhubaneswar ACP Prakash Chandra Pal said the incident was a fall out of previous enmity between Sadananda and the two youths. Sadananda had reportedly duped Rs 3.5 lakh from Pramod and Santosh two years back by promising them of jobs in the Odisha Police Department.

As per the FIR at the Chandaka Police Station, Sadananda was returning from market at around 9.30 am on his scooty on June 9 when Pramod and Santosh, travelling in a luxury car, hit him from the rear. When he fell down after being hit by the car, the two youths forcibly put him in the car and drove away.

Few hours later, Rashmita received a phone call from the two kidnappers who demanded Rs 3.5 lakh ransom to release Sadananda. Following this, Rashmita approached the Chandaka Police seeking help.

"A special team was formed and a manhunt was launched to ascertain the whereabouts of Sadananda and his two kidnappers. Their phone numbers were tracked and they were traced to a farm house in Khordha yesterday night at around 9 pm," informed the ACP.

"During the interrogation, the two kidnappers admitted to their crime and revealed that Sadananda had fleeced Rs 3.5 lakh from them two years back. They told us that he has also duped many others by promising them to provide jobs in different sectors," added ACP Pal.

One each case has been registered against Sadananda and the two abductors. The three were forwarded to court after medical examination yesterday. Further investigation in connection with the incident is underway.
