Bhubaneswar constable arrested for 'sexually abusing minor girl continuously for 3 years'

In a case of fence eating the crop, the Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested a constable on charges of sexually exploiting a minor girl for three years. 

The arrested constable has been identified as Rajanikant Gamango, who was attached to the Commissinerate Police. 

“The accused constable sexually abused the victim when she was just 13 years old and since then he had been abusing her on several occasions,” informed Director, Childline, Bhubaneswar, Dr Benudhar Senapati. 

“It was when the victim first contacted the Childline, she was given counselling here at the Childline. Then, a complaint was lodged at Mahila Police station. Registering a case under POCSO Act, the police arrested the accused policeman,” said Dr Senapati. 

“The accused constable had some photographs of their intimate moments and with that, he had been blackmailing the victim. He used to threaten her of uploading the photographs on social media platforms, and had also demanded Rs 50,000 from her to delete the photographs,” added Dr Senapati.

The police also raided the house of the accused and seized an electronic device used for videographing. 

Meanwhile, the police got the medical test of the survivor conducted and recorded her statement. She also underwent medical test and recorded her statement under Sections 161 and 164 of CrPC.
