Bhubaneswar: The prime accused in Priyanka Priyadarshini murder case that occurred on July 6 at Bhimatangi in Bhubaneswar, has been questioned by the investigating team after he was discharged from the hospital today.

A team of probe officials from Airfield Police station are likely to produce the accused, Jagannath Pradhan before a local court today after completing interrogation process, reports said.

Pradhan, a resident of Mangalpur in Jajpur district, was admitted to Capital hospital as he allegedly attempted suicide after murdering Priyanka. As his hands had borne deep wounds, he was later referred to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for plastic surgery. He was discharged today after complete treatment.

Pradhan had eliminated Priyanka, his ex-girl friend, by slitting her throat at a rented house at Bhimatangi where she was staying with her husband and three-year-old son.

The crime is believed to be fallout of a past relationship.

Pradhan had planned to eliminate Priyanka and her minor son. However, the three-year-old escaped the crime as he was not present on the spot on the fateful day.

Jagannath and Priyanka were in a relationship before the marriage of the young woman. After marriage of Priyanka, Jagannath had snapped all ties with her and left for Bengaluru for job. However, he had returned to home due to enforcement of lockdown last year.

In the meantime, their relationship developed once again after Priyanka had allegedly contacted him through social media platform.
Family members of the accused said that Jagannath had posted a message on family whatsapp group on the fateful day that Priyanka had ruined his life. So, he wants to end his life.
