In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old woman from Kerala was allegedly gangraped by a Rapido driver and his friend in Bengaluru, police said. The matter came to the fore after the victim lodged a complaint in this connection.

Police said, the incident occurred Friday night.

According to the complaint, the 22-year-old rape survivor had gone to a friend’s house. She then booked a bike on the ride-sharing application ‘Rapido’ to go to another friend’s house.

The woman was totally drunk when she booked the ‘Rapido’. The Rapido driver took her to the destination but she was totally drunk and not even in a condition to get off the bike and walk to her friend’s house.

Taking advantage of the situation, the Rapido rider took her to his house where he outraged her modesty. He then called his friend-cum-aide and the two took turns on her. The two raped her whole night until the woman gained consciousness Saturday morning.

She managed to walk out of the accused’s house and made her way to St John’s Hospital and narrated her ordeal. Doctors examined her and alerted the cops who swung into action and arrested the two accused.

The police also arrested a woman in this connection as she was present at the accused’s house during the heinous crime. The two accused are from Bengaluru while the woman is from West Bengal, police said.
