Basta MLA Nityananda Sahoo gets death threat over phone, one detained

Basta MLA Nityananda Sahoo reportedly received death threat from a miscreant over the phone on Tuesday.

One person has been detained in this connection. His questioning is currently underway.

As per the complaint, Sahoo got a call from an unknown person at around 8 am that three persons have contacted him to kill the MLA. The miscreant further told Sahoo that he has detained the persons. The miscreant also told the MLA to fill his car with fuel so that he will be able to send the three persons near him. Sahoo then asked him to send the picture of the car. Subsequently, the miscreant sent the photo of the car.

The phone number, from which the death threat was issued to Sahoo, was immediately traced and one person was detained by police in this connection. Further investigation into this incident is underway.

“The miscreant has been detained and his questioning is underway. More information could be revealed after further investigation,” said Sahoo.
