A wedding revelry turned tragic when a woman died after being attacked following dispute over dance during marriage procession of her daughter in Bargarh district of Odisha.

The shocking incident took place at Salepali village under Melchamunda police limits in the district last night. The deceased has been identified as Kishori Rajhans.

As per sources, the marriage of Kishori’s daughter was scheduled to be solemnised with a youth from Badmal village in Ghess area of the district on Thursday.

When the wedding party reached the village in a procession, two villagers-Sumant Nayak and Subodh Rajhans- joined the groomsmen to dance with them.

Fearing any untoward incident, Kishori intervened and asked the duo not to dance with the wedding party. However, the duo flew into a rage and attacked the woman with a sharp-edged weapon.
