Police on Saturday arrested a person on charges of running a sex trade in the guise of a sex worker in Balsore.
The accused has been identified as Chiranjit Khilar, a resident of Mulisingh village under Soro police limits. He was arrested on the basis of his wife’s complaint.
According to the police, the complainant, a resident of Khaira area, married Chiranjit on March 8, 2019. Before marriage, he had introduced to her and her family that he was an engineer working in Surat. After one month, he went to Surat leaving his wife back at home.
He used to run a sex racket through WhatsApp groups in Surat. After five months, his wife reached his house in Surat and was taken aback to see ladies' clothes and some objectionable articles.
“My husband would run a sex trade in the guise of a woman. When I objected, he not only tortured me but also threatened me with dire consequences,” said the complainant.
Despite her admonishing, he would continue to do what he had been doing.
Drawing the line, she went to Soro police station with her husband’s objectionable photos and lodged a complaint. She also met the SP, pleading for justice.
On the basis of the complaint, the police arrested Chiranjit and produced him in court.
The complainant with her two-year-old daughter is now staying with her parents. She demands exemplary punishment for her husband.
