Baba attacked by self-styled godman in Puri succumbs to injuries

A day after the death of a baba at Gurukrupa Ashram at Lokanath road in Puri, another baba of the same ashram who was undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack succumbed on Sunday. Both the babas were allegedly attacked by another self-styled godman of the same ashram on Saturday. 

The deceased baba has been identified as Dayanidhi Das. 

According to a source, Bishnu Baba, the self-styled godman of Gurukrupa Ashram, on Saturday attacked Arjun Das and Dayanidhi Das with a wooden plank. While Arjun died on the spot, a critically injured Dayanidhi was rushed to the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to SCBMCH. 

Following the death of Arjun Das, the police had detained the accused.  

The accused baba had on Saturday admitted his crime and said, "I hit him (Arjun Das) with a wooden plank on his head. He was spreading rumours that I was into tantra sadhana. I do only sadhana, while my father practices tantra sadhana regularly.”

While talking to journalists, Puri Additional SP, Sushil Mishra had said, "Preliminary investigation shows that there was some dispute between the accused and the deceased. We are investigating the matter. Only after the probe, the exact motive can be ascertained."
