Associate of ‘Muskan Gang’ that robbed passengers with spiked drinks nabbed

Commissionerate Police on Monday claimed another breakthrough by arresting the key associate of a gang, which was allegedly operated by a lady identified as Sharifa Khatun, alias Muskan. The accused has been identified as Chintu Mohanty and he was arrested from the BJB Nagar area in Bhubaneswar.

Earlier, police had arrested four members of the gang on October 14. Muskan had allegedly formed the gang with the help of other habitual offenders. The gang used to loot people mostly at railway stations and bus terminals by spiking their drinks.

Earlier, senior officials of the Commissionerate Police had informed that Muskan had formed the gang known as Landa Gang with the help of Landa, a resident of Ganjam, Sana Landa of Nayagarh, and Sushant Rout of Odagaon. Their modus operandi was to target people, particularly Army jawans on vacation returning home by bus or train.

The Commissionerate Police is likely to bring Muskan on remand for further interrogation in connection with the case.
