An Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker was allegedly gang raped by four youths near Nehru Bangla in Paradip on Friday evening.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the survivor at Paradip Adarsh police station, the police have detained an accused and are interrogating him. 

Meanwhile, the police have handed over the survivor to her family members after conducting the medical examination and recording her statement under Section 164. 

According to the allegation of the victim’s family members, the ASHA worker was going somewhere on some work on her bicycle when she was intercepted by four youths in a car. 

They forcibly took her in a red car and gang raped her near Nehryu Bangla. After committing the crime, they again dumped her at the spot from where she was picked up. 

Then, the survivor went to the Paradip Adarsh police station to lodge a complaint.
 
A team from Adarsh police station along with a scientific team and dog squad on Saturday morning visited the crime spot and carried out an investigation. 

As of now, the police have been carrying out raids at possible locations to nab the rest three accused. And they are also searching for the red car used in the crime and its owner.
