Around 15 to 20 armed miscreants barged into the house of a man on Tuesday night and took him away with them at Gopabandhu Nagar in Bolangir Town allegedly over a past enmity with his son.

However, the man identified as Siba Prasad Behera was later released by the miscreants.

As per reports, some miscreants forcibly entered the house of Behera yesterday night at around 9 pm. They vandalised the furniture and vehicles kept inside the garage and kidnapped Behera.

“They damaged the furniture and vehicle and then covered my face with a black cloth and picked me up from my house in an auto-rickshaw. Later after two-three hours, they dropped me near RTO Chhak at around 11 pm from where I walked back home,” alleged Prasad.

Meanwhile, Behera’s son Bimal Kumar Behera, who was not present at the house during the incident, has alleged that the men were from Bibhutipada area of the town.

“My son had a fight with some people two days back. However, I don’t know about the incident properly. The attack might be the fallout of that fight only,” added Behera.

Meanwhile, Bolangir Police rushed to the spot after receiving a complaint from Behera, after his release, and started an investigation into the incident. Police are yet to make any arrest in connection with the incident.
