In a joint operation, the Jeypore police along with Andhra Pradesh’s Muchimput police busted a bike-lifting racket and arrested its kingpin from Patraput area under Jeypore police limits in Koraput district on Wednesday. As many as three motorcycles stolen from different locations in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh have been recovered from his possession. 

The accused has been identified as Subash Golari, a resident of Patraput area under Jeypore police limits. 

Sources said after getting information about Golari’s whereabouts, the Muchimput police sought help of their counterparts in Jeypore. Subsequently, a raid was conducted in Patraput area leading to the arrest of Golari who is said to be the kingpin of the vehicle-lifter syndicate. 

Giving details about the gang’s modus operandi, the police said the conduits would steal two-wheelers from Muchimput, Pedabayalu and Paderu areas of Visakhapatnam and sell them in Odisha at throw away prices. The police said that the racket comprised of 10 members. The remaining nine members would be nabbed soon, police said.

“Golari and his associates used to carry out a recce in the localities of Muchimput, Pedabayalu and Paderu in day time and lift the targeted two wheelers in night,” informed SI of Muchimput police station R. Santosh.
