Lack of job prospects and aspiration to earn more outside the state and country has now provided a gold opportunity to scamsters to dupe job aspirants. In one such case, several job aspirants from Odisha have allegedly been duped by a travel agency from Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram

As many as 78 persons from Banapur and Balugaon areas in Khordha district have been duped to the tune of lakhs of rupees by the ‘fraud’ travel agency.

As per the allegations, the concerned agency had assured the job aspirants from Odisha to provide them jobs in Abu Dhabi. The agent of the agency, identified as Ravana, had allegedly taken Rs 60,000 per aspirant to complete the necessary formalities and other works.

The matter came to light after the aspirants reached Andhra Pradesh to collect flight tickets and other documents. On reaching the neighbouring state, they found that no such agency exists at the said location. The aspirants alleged that the flight tickets that they were handed over have been cancelled.

After learning that they have been duped, the aspirants lodged a police complaint. However, the police are reportedly yet to take any action on their grievances. Till the last report came in, the aspirants were trying to contact senior police officials in Andhra Pradesh.
