The innovative tricks used by Allu Arjun to smuggle Red Sandalwood in his recently released movie ‘Pushpa’ not only made the fans go crazy, it also prompted several people mostly smugglers to replicate such ideas in real life to evade police suspicion.

This was again evident after a man was arrested from Samantrapur Nuagaon area in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar by the flying squad of the Excise Department on Saturday. The accused, identified as Raj Kumar, was arrested on the charges of smuggling gallons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in a truck which was converted into a water tanker.

It is pertinent to mention here that a team of Dhenkanal police had earlier intercepted the truck and had seized the liquor from a secrete chamber on March 1.

The excise wing continued its investigation and has now arrested Raj Kumar, who is said to be the master mind of the illicit trade. A luxury car, Rs 9 lakh cash and around 2 kilograms of Ganja (dry cannabis) have been recovered following a raid on the house of Raj Kumar.

Raj Kumar hails from Gudeikateni in Dhenkanal district.

“The truck was converted as a water filter plant. A secrete chamber was detected and over thousand boxes of non-duty paid liquor was seized from the vehicle. Subsequently, we raided the house of Raj Kumar in Nuagaon and recovered Ganja and Rs 9 lakh,” said Debasish Patel, Excise Superintendent (State Flying Squad, Cuttack).
