Delhi Police busted a ganja racket by arresting seven members who were smuggling the ‘Sheelavathi’ variety of ganja grown in Odisha.
As per sources, the modus operandi of this racket was to travel on trains like a family with trolley bags and other belongings to hoodwink the police.
The racket was out of luck as in a special drive, a team of Delhi Crime Branch caught them red-handed while smuggling ganja from Odisha to Delhi.
Acting on a tip-off, the team was lying in wait near Shakur Basti railway station and caught the accused persons. They had trolley bags and backpacks with them.
The ‘Sheelavathi’ variety of ganja cultivated in Odisha is said to be in high demand in almost all big cities of the country.
