5 miscreants create ruckus, ransack property of wine shop demanding ‘free liquor’ in Bhubaneswar

The Commissionerate Police on Monday intensified the probe following reports of ransacking property of a liquor shop at Laxmisagar area in Bhubaneswar.

As per the allegations, some unidentified youths entered the liquor shop on Sunday night and created a ruckus after the staff refused to give liquor for free.

The accused first demanded extortion after failing to extort money, they allegedly damaged the door, and hurled liquor bottles at staff. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged at the local police station in this connection. The entire act was captured on CCTV.

 “Between 9pm and 10 pm, 4 to 5 persons came and demanded liquor free of cost. They threatened us and demanded money and liquor. Our staff were successful in driving them out of the shop. But they started to hurl stones at the counter,”alleged a staff of the liquor shop. Sources said that there are some youths in the locality are engaged in demanding extortion from other shops as well.
