In less than a week after the idol theft incident in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar rocked the State, another such incident has been reported from Pipili in which as many as 10 valuable idols were allegedly stolen from Sidheswari temple on Saturday.

As per reports, 10 valuable idols were found missing from the temple in Sampur panchayat under Pipili police limits of which five were of ‘Ashtadhatu’- eight metals.

The estimated value of the stolen idols is pegged at Rs 10 lakh.

The locals along with the temple priest have lodged a complaint with the police following which the SDPO arrived at the spot and launched a probe into the matter.

The police have found a broken lock from the temple premises.

A few days earlier, a similar incident was reported from Kanasa in which idols were stolen from Baidyanath temple in Baidyanathpur and Gopinath temple in Samsherpur.

While the idol theft racket is rampant across the State, police are yet to nab the miscreants.
