At least four persons have been detained by police in connection with the alleged gangrape of two minor tribal girls at Bengaon village under Kalahandi’s Lanjigarh Police limits on April 15. However, one more accused is said to be absconding, sources said.
Earlier it was alleged that the minor girls were returning home after watching a 'jatra' at night when the accused took them to an isolated place where they took turns on them.
The matter came to the fore after their parents lodged a written complaint with police demanding immediate arrest of the accused persons. Later, a case has been registered in this connection with the incident and the minor girls were taken to Bhawanipatna government hospital for medical examination.
Earlier, Kalahandi SP, Abhilash G had informed, " Two POCSO cases have been registered in Bijepur Police Station. It is only a day back when the cases were registered and we have taken it seriously. It will take one or two days to collect the call detail records.”
