Cracking the sensational murder case of a woman dhaba owner at Duajhara in Nuapada district, police on Wednesday arrested as many as four persons including the deceased's son-in-law, his elder brother and two contract killers in connection with the case.

All the accused have been forwarded to court. Cash of Rs 90,000 and at least four mobile phones along with two bikes have been seized from them.

The deceased identified as Basanti Meher had been reportedly shot dead on Saturday night following an argument with two miscreants who were in an inebriated condition.

“The prime conspirator had made a deal with two supari killers and given them Rs 2 lakh in advance. He along with his elder brother had also promised to give them Rs 4 lakh more after the murder,” the official said.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.

“All the accused have been forwarded to the court. We have intensified the probe into the murder case,” said Nuapada SP Pratyush Diwaker.
