301 gm brown sugar seized in Bhubaneswar 

The Excise Department officials arrested three brown sugar peddlers in Bhubaneswar and seized 301 gram of contraband and a bike from their possession on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Excise department officials raided a place in the Kalpana Square area in the capital city and arrested three persons while they were striking a deal.

Of the three arrested accused, two from the Jatani area in Khordha are habitual offenders, who were earlier lodged in jail several times for brown sugar smuggling.

During the preliminary investigation, the Excise department has found that there is a network behind the smuggling of the contraband, sources informed adding that, the department is planning to form a special team to bust the network.
