In a major breakthrough by Bolangir Police, three wanted accused in the sensational Dhumamara double murder case which occurred in February 2015, have been nabbed.

The three arrested accused have been identified by the police as Francis alias Niranjan Kumbhar, Surjan Kumbhar and Daniel Kumbhar.

As per reports, one Suresh Sahu and Lifan Nag were attacked by a group of miscreants at Dhumamara in February 2015. While Suresh died on the spot, Nag succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a hospital.

A total of six persons had been arrested following investigation by the police. The arrested accused included two women. However, two accused managed to evade arrest and had been absconding since then. Later another accused went into hiding after he was released on parole.

With the arrest of the three wanted accused in the case, the police, which came under severe criticism for its failure to bring all perpetrators to justice, seem to have heaved a sigh of relief. The arrested trio was forwarded to a court on Thursday for remand.

As per reports, the arrests happen to be the first case handled by the newly appointed Inspector-In-Charge of Sadar Police Station.

Speaking on the arrest of the trio, Manoranjan Pradhan, the ASP of Bolangir said, “They have been arrested during a special drive launched by the district police to nab all the accused against who Non-Bailable Warrants have been issued.”
