The Sahid Nagar Police in Bhubaneswar on Sunday arrested two people and detained another for their alleged involvement in a murder case at Gadakana area of the Capital city on Saturday.

The accused have been identified by their first names as Milu, Satya and Jitendra while the deceased is Niranjan Parida alias Chintu.

As per sources, Chintu was stabbed to death after an altercation ensued between two groups over some trivial issues at a food kiosk. The police have seized the knife and other articles used in the crime.

As per the reports, Chintu along with some of his friends had gone to the food kiosk for evening snacks when some youths, who arrived at the spot, picked up a quarrel with him and his friends over some trivial reasons.

The scene turned ugly when the miscreants attacked Chintu and his friend Bishal Patra with a sharp weapon and fled from the spot.
A profusely bleeding Chintu and his injured friend were immediately rushed to a hospital. While receiving treatment, Chintu succumbed to his injuries. His friend, whose condition is stated to be critical, is undergoing treatment.

Recounting the incident, one of the deceased’s friends said four youths arrived at the kiosk and started hurling abuses. “When I enquired about their unruly behaviour, they attacked us. So it resulted in blows from both sides. However, before we could figure out how to recede from the situation, the miscreants attacked Chintu and Bishal and ran into a nearby KTM bike show room,” he narrated.

After the arrest, the police are on the lookout for the fourth accused. A scientific team visited the crime spot on Sunday.

A female member of the scientific team, while replying to the queries of journalists, said both the seized knife and jacket have stains of blood. We have collected samples from the ground. Any other details of the incident can only be divulged after completion of probe into the case,” she said.
