15-year-old boy ‘beaten to death’ by father, step-mom in Odisha

A teenage boy was allegedly beaten to death by his father and step-mother at Trilochanpur under Abhayachandapur police limits in Jagatsinghpur district.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul Behera (15). His body was recovered from a field near the village school on Wednesday.

Upon being informed by the villagers about the alleged murder, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the case.

Meanwhile, the members of Rahul’s maternal uncle’s family lodged an FIR with the police alleging that the teenage boy’s father and step-mother have thrashed him death.

Based on the complaint, police detained the couple and questioned them about the suspected murder case. The body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation into the incident is underway.

However, accused couple alleged that the boy committed suicide after he was forbidden to do certain act which is harmful to others.

As per sources, the deceased's mother was also found dead under similar mysterious circumstances around 8-10 years back. Rahul's father, who was accused in the case, had also spent few years in jail in connection with the case.

A pall of gloom descended on the village following Rahul’s death. The irate villagers demanded stern action against the culprits.
