Seeking justice for aspiring model Soumya Ranjan, who allegedly died by suicide, the deceased’s family members showed up at the Infocity police station in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

They wanted to know why the police were not initiating action against those responsible for Soumya’s death.

In the suicide note, Soumya held his girlfriend responsible for his extreme decision. During his purported telephonic conversation with his girlfriend and her mother, Soumya had mentioned about him being cheated (by the girl) and his decision to end his life. The audio clips had gone viral following the tragic suicide. “We are yet to understand why the police have not questioned the girl,” asked the bereaved family members.

Expressing her dismay over the police’s investigation, which she termed sluggish, the deceased’s sister said, “They (the girl and her mother) had abetted my brother to end his life. We have the audio clips to substantiate our allegation. Even though 12 days have passed since the suicide took place, the police are yet to summon the girl and her family members for questioning. We demand justice. This is why we have visited the police station to lodge a second FIR, demanding justice.”

“In spite of sufficient pieces of evidence against the girl, the police are yet to interrogate her. I want fulfilment of my son’s last wish,” said the deceased’s mother.

It is pertinent to mention here that Soumya in his suicide note had pleaded for proper investigation into his death.

Later, the family members also met the DCP over the same demand for justice for their deceased son.

The reaction of the police over the family’s allegations is yet to be received.

Notably, Soumya was found hanging at his residence in Nandanvihar area of Capital city on January 31. A suicide note was recovered from the room.
