The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday busted a major sex racket that was allegedly operating in the guise of a web channel in Cuttack.

As per initial reports, a signboard of a web channel was put up on the entrance of the house in Suryavihar area under Badambadi police limits in Cuttack, where the sex racket was allegedly operating.

A team of Badambadi Police and a special squad raided the house after receiving allegations and credible inputs regarding the sex racket. Five women were rescued while two customers have been detained by police.

Cuttack DCP, Pinak Mishra said, “A case under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act has been registered and Badambadi Police have rescued four women from the spot and detained two other persons.” On the issue of web channel, Mishra said that a detailed investigation will be carried out in this regard.

On the other hand, police officials said that soon the person, who had taken the house on rent, and the house owner will also be examined in connection with the incident.
