The Twin City Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar managed to nab four criminals, who are allegedly members of the notorious ‘Irani gang’, from Raipur.

The gang, which is known to have a presence across India, had become a challenge for the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar as the criminals were involved in a series of crimes in the capital city. The ‘Irani gang’ members said to be involved in 20 cases in the past several months.

The criminals used to adopt new techniques to loot cash and other valuables from people. From posing as police officers or gate crashing big events or marriage functions as guests, the criminals used to steal and loot valuables including gifts as well.

The gang members also used to steal cash from cash counters of major shops and commercial centers by diverting attention of the staff or by using other tricks.

Police sources said that the criminals are also involved in series of crimes in other states like Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, five motorcycles, 17 gold chains and other articles have been seized from their possession.
