Carrying out investigation in one of the biggest job frauds in India, the Odisha Economic Offences Wing (EOW) officials arrested a website expert (IT engineer) from Madhya Pradesh.

The accused, identified as Arpit Panchal, was arrested from Jaora area on January 10 and has been produced before Bhubaneswar SJDM court after being brought on a transit remand.

According to EOW, the accused Arpita Panchal holds a degree in Bachelor in Engineering and Information Technology. He was one of the active members of the job fraud racket. Being an IT expert and skilled in creating and designing websites, Arpit was well conversant with at least 4 computer languages. Moreover, he is now employed with a private agency.

Arpit in connivance with Zafar Ahamad, who was earlier arrested in the case, and other fraudsters created and designed at least nine websites which looked like government websites advertising various jobs.

Out of the 9 websites, the accused were using four websites in Odisha to float the advertisements. It is alleged that the accused have duped at least 12,000 job seekers of Odisha alone. They used to charge amount ranging from Rs 3000 to Rs 50000 per candidate.

“The fraud was being perpetrated by a group of highly tech savvy engineers from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh with the help of some expert website developers,” EOW officials said.
