‘Fake cop’ arrested for detaining and thrashing youth in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar Airfield Police on Friday arrested a person on charges of detaining and thrashing a man by posing as a police officer. The accused has been identified as Ranjan Bhuiyan.

As per reports, Ranjan had past enmity with the victim’s younger brother. It is alleged that Ranjan had called the victim to a place and had threatened and thrashed him by identifying himself as the Inspector-in-charge of Airfield Police Station.

Moreover, the accused had also pressured the man to call his younger brother with whom he had some past rivalry. Later, the fake cop was arrested based on the complaint filed by the victim.

It has been learnt that the accused Ranjan is working for a web series due to which he managed to procure the police uniform. As per reports, the accused hails from Kendrapara district and was staying at Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar in a rented accommodation.
