Rourkela: Two RT-PCR machines will soon be installed at Rourkela Covid hospital and High-Tech Covid hospital in the Steel City for smooth and early diagnosis of Covid-19 infections.

It was informed by Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) chairperson and Principal Advisor to Chief Minister, Asit Tripathy during his visit to various Covid health centres in the city to review treatment arrangements.

Similarly, vaccination for the age group of 18-45 will begin in Rourkela from Tuesday, he said.

During his visit, Tripathy directed the Rourkela Covid Hospital authorities to add more number of beds as Covid-19 daily cases in the Sudergarh district especially Rourkela is rising rapidly.

He was accompanied by NHM director Shalini Pandit.

Tripathy informed that 90 ICU and 120 general beds equipped with oxygen facilities will soon be added to Sundergarh district. 

Sundergarh Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan and Rourkela Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Rourkela SP, who were present during his visit, briefed Tripathy regarding the treatment facilities and preparedness to prevent the spread of the virus.

The team also visited the 24x7 Rourkela COVID Helpline centre and reviewed the services being provided to the public. 

Moreover, Tripathy visited Bargarh district and reviewed the situation and preparedness of district administration. He said efforts are on to enhance the ICU capacity in Bargarh as the district has been witnessing a steady surge in daily number of cases.
