Amid the scare of a third wave of Covid pandemic thick in the air, two government offices have been sealed after detection of the virus infection cases in Bhubaneswar.

As per sources, the offices of Bhubaneswar Sub-collector and Bhubaneswar Tehsil have been sealed by the city municipal corporation authorities as a precautionary measure to curb the outbreak of the Coronavirus cases.

It may be mentioned here that both the offices are flocked by thousands of people every day on various official works.

A team of the BMC's health unit has been pressed into sanitization activities at the campuses of both offices.

Sources said three Assistant Collectors of Bhubaneswar Sub-collector office and two Assistant Tehsildars of Bhubaneswar Tehsil office have been tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

All positive cases have been asked to go into isolation with immediate effect. Tracing of close contacts of all the infected officials is underway.

An RT-PCR test camp will be conducted on September 20 in which all officers, staff of housekeeping and security personnel shall be invariably tested for Coronavirus.

In case of any emergency, the head(s) of the concerned offices have been asked to intimate BMC Control Room or call 7847873040 or 1929 for immediate assistance.

The move comes on a day when Odisha reported 628 new cases of Covid-19 including 96 positives from the under 18 year age category. The State's total virus tally has surged to 1018926.
