  • State-level serological surveillance to be conducted in 12 districts of Odisha 
  • RMRC Bhubaneswar to conduct the survey to estimate age-wise Covid prevalence

The Odisha government has approved the proposal for conducting State-level serological surveillance in 12 districts of the State. 

The survey will be conducted with the objective of making an estimation and comparison of the age-specific prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the general population and health care workers across the State.

The State government has asked the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar to carry out the survey. The 12 districts where the survey has been planned include Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Khordha, Puri, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur. 

State Health and Family Welfare department Additional Chief Secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra on Monday shot off a letter to the Director of RMRC, Bhubaneswar in this regard. 

“After careful consideration, Government have been pleased to approve the proposal for conducting the State-level serological surveillance by ICMR-RMRC, Bhubaneswar in 12 districts such as Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Khordha, Puri, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur in order to estimate and compare the age-specific prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the general population and health care workers across the state of Odisha,” Mohapatra stated in the letter.  

He said the total expenditure of Rs 57,70,500 for the survey will be met out of Public Health Response Fund (PHRF).
