Bhubaneswar: A fraction of the beneficiaries have been found infected with Covid 19 after vaccination. Their number stands at only 0.13 per cent of the total vaccinated population, said the Director, Health Services, Dr Bijay Moahapatra.
More studies on breakthrough infections are being carried out at multiple levels, he added.
Speaking on the vaccination programme for pregnant women, Mohapatra said there is a SOP in place for the inoculation of the group.
"We will go by the SOP cautiously. Because, there are chances of effects on the unborn child," Mohapatra said.
The Covid situation in the State is yet to be over. However, but people have started visiting resorts for merry making once the government eased the restrictions for livelihood.
"Many places have witnessed heavy crowding following relaxation in restrictions. If the trend continues, the third wave, which is predicted to arrive in September-October, is not far away, "Mohapatra cautioned.
“The Single-day infection has decreased today. We expect it will dip further in coming days,” he pointed out.
The State today reported 2602 new cases out of which 1495 are from quarantine centres while 1107 are local contact cases.
Similarly, Odisha has witnessed a record number of fatalities due to Covid 19 today which stands at 59, even as the Health department clarified that the figure is not of a particular day, but based on the fatality audit report.
