For the second consecutive day, the daily Covid-19 cases tally breached the 500-mark in Odisha with the detection of 576 new positive cases in different parts of the State in the past 24 hours. On Saturday, the State reported 512 Covid-19 positive cases.

As per the data shared by the Odisha government’s I &PR Department, Khordha district reported the highest 204 new Covid-19 cases, followed by 118 cases in Cuttack, 42 from Sundargarh and 37 from Puri district.

Of the total 576 new cases, 69 cases have been detected within the age group 0-18 years while 239 are local contact cases.  With the detection of the new cases, the Covid-19 active cases tally has now reached 3027.

It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha is witnessing an upward trend as far as the detection of new Covid-19 cases is concerned.

Khordha (of which Bhubaneswar is a part of) district now accounts for the highest 1358 active Covid-19 cases, followed by 561 active cases in Cuttack, 146 in Sundargarh and 116 active cases in Puri district.

In view of the rise in Covid-19 cases, the use of face masks has already been made mandatory in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
