Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed a drastic fall in the Covid-19 cases for the second day in a row with the State registering 7,216 new infections in the last 24 hours. However, there was no break in the rising cases of fatalities.The State recorded 33 deaths during the period taking the total death toll to 2651.

Angul district recorded maximum five death cases while Sundargarh reported four fatalities. Boudh, Khordha, Kalahandi and Keonjhar saw three casualties each due to Covid in last 24 hours. 
Similarly, two deaths have been reported each from Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Kendrapara, Koraput and Rayagada districts during the period. One patient succumbed to the virus each in Dhenkanal and Nabarangapur.

Of the new positives detected in the last 24 hours, Cuttack accounted for the maximum among all the districts with 1,091 cases. It was followed by Khordha with 809 cases. While Kendrapara reported 487 cases, Dhenkanal registered 428 cases. Angul witnessed a drastic fall in the number of positives as the district reported 409 cases. Bargarh, Bhadrak and Koraput reported 331, 246 and 220 cases respectively. Balasore saw 215 cases and Jagatsinghpur reported 183 cases.

With this, the total positive case count in the State jumped to 7,39,955 while active cases stood at 1,02,072. As many as 11,551 new recoveries were reported in last 24 hours. The recoverey tally reached 6,35,179.
